The Living Teapot: Where Ming Dynasty Legacy Meets Modern Tea Alchemy

We invite you to touch, pour, and witness how true Yixing clay breathes life into tea—Experience the Ming Dynasty heritage (1368-1644) of Yixing clay teapots, where each touch awakens the soul of tea.Amidst counterfeit imitations, we safeguard authentic craftsmanship.Every SteepCode teapot is a timeless heirloom, hand-sculpted by master artisans through 500-year-old techniques—transforming tea rituals into art.

Breathing Teapot

Crafted in Yixing, China—the global epicenter of purple clay artistry since the Ming Dynasty —this 180ml teapot uses authentic "Lü Ni" green ore, a rare mineral mined from Yixing's Huanglong Mountain. Its dual-pore "skin-like" structure allows heat retention and subtle tea oil absorption, enhancing flavors over time like a seasoned cast-iron skillet

Green Ore (Lü Ni) – A Rarity Forged by Nature's Scarcity

Mined exclusively from the mineral-rich fissures of Yixing's Huanglong Mountain, Green Ore (Lü Ni) stands as one of Earth's most elusive ceramic treasures. Its scarcity stems from a perfect storm of geological rarity—less than 10cm-thick ore veins yield under 1kg of usable clay per ton of raw material—and centuries of controlled extraction under China's mineral conservation policies. Unlike common clays, Green Ore's unique colloidal structure, enriched with 28% iron oxide and rare trace minerals, cannot be synthetically replicated, making each teapot a non-renewable artifact.

Why "Breathing"?

Dual-Pore Technology:

The teapot’s unique "skin-like" structure (open and closed pores) allows oxygen to circulate while retaining heat—similar to a wine decanter enhancing flavors through aeration

Artisan Proof:

Each teapot bears faint tool marks and uneven textures, evidence of 500-year-old slab-building techniques (no molds/glue). Counterfeits lack these organic "fingerprints" .

Cultural Craftsmanship:

600-Year Legacy:

Originating in Ming Dynasty Yixing, these teapots are hand-shaped using ancient "slab-building" techniques—no molds or glue. Each piece is a functional sculpture

Cultural DNA:

Non-Heritage Craft: Recognized by UNESCO, Yixing's zisha pottery techniques date to 1506 AD. This teapot replicates the "Six Petal Round Sac Pot" design from Ming scholar-officials, symbolizing harmony between Confucian order and Daoist spontaneity

First Brew Ritual:

①Submerge in boiling water with tea leaves for 30 minutes to activate its "breathing" pores.
Tea Pairing Tips:
②Light Teas (Green/White): 80°C water, 1-2 mins – preserves floral notes.
Bold Teas (Pu-erh/Black): 100°C water, 3-5 mins – extracts earthy richness.

Maintenance:

Rinse with water only; avoid detergents to protect the natural patina.Air-dry to maintain its "living" texture

Spotting Fakes:

①Texture Test: Genuine Yixing clay feels gritty yet smooth, never plasticky or overly polished.
②Sound Check: Tap the lid—authentic teapots emit a muted, earthy resonance; fakes sound metallic or hollow.
③Patina Proof: Real clay absorbs tea oils, developing a warm sheen with use. Imposters stay lifelessly glossy.

For that kind of money (2 k) is very pleasant. It does not drain turbo quickly, but for such a sieve and spout quite quickly. Essentially toy. Holds the lid-this was the most important indicator. The second most important is the presence of a nest sieve. Everything! Now I get high without a hijag.
